Why do Allied Health Professionals need insurance?
As an allied health professional, small mistakes can have big consequences. So while you’re busy looking after your clients, we will assist you with looking after your risks . With just a few clicks or a single phone call, you’ll get multiple competitive quotes from some of Australia’s leading insurers. Select your preferred policy and you’ll be covered instantly, so you can continue running your business without any worries.
Did you know?
BizCover is the preferred insurance partner of the Naturopaths and Herbalists Association of Australia. If you’re a NHAA member you’ll save on your Professional Indemnity & Public Liability cover with our exclusive member’s rate.
Insurance for Allied Health Professionals
Professional Indemnity*
Whether you’re a naturopath, podiatrist, speech pathologist or psychologist your clients trust and rely upon your expertise and knowledge. All Allied Health providers are human, making it possible for treatment errors or incorrect advice to be provided which may result in a Professional Indemnity claim.
A Professional Indemnity claim has the potential to cripple your business, and ruin your reputation. Professional Indemnity insurance is designed to protect you against losses claimed by a third party due to alleged or actual negligence in your professional services or advice. Your Professional Indemnity insurance will meet the associated compensation payable to the third party together with your defence costs (which can include legal costs, investigator costs and expert fees).
Public Liability Insurance*
Whether you work from your own practice, make home visits or attend to your clients in hospital, you are always in close contact with them, making Public Liability insurance important for allied health professionals.
Public Liability insurance is designed to provide protection for you and your business in the event a customer, supplier or a member of the public is injured or sustains property damage as a result of your negligent business activities
Slips, trips, or other mishaps caused by your negligent business activities means there is a risk of personal injury or property damage claims being made against your business.
If you have a home-based practice, the Public Liability insurance provided under your Home and Contents insurance may exclude claims relating to your business activities.
Business Insurance*
Your clients are important, but so are your business assets. Without the right cover, you could be hit with a few unwanted challenges that could leave you severely out of pocket. Business Insurance* is an insurance package designed to provide cover for your business, contents, stock, tools and commercial premises when an insured event occurs (such as fire, storm, theft or even accidental damage). It can be customised to provide additional forms of cover. Business insurance coverage sections that are commonly relevant for Allied Health professionals include:
Building insurance: This covers your building in the event of damage caused by fire, storm, malicious activity or another defined event listed in the policy.
Contents insurance: Covers for damage to items such as business equipment, records and furniture belonging to you at the insured location.
Business Interruption cover: provides cover for the loss of income and increased costs of operating your business caused by a specified insured event (such as property damage or fire). It is also designed to assist your business to recover from an insured event by paying ongoing expenses (such as wages or rent).
Cyber Liability*
Chances are you handle sensitive information about your clients, whether its details about their personal health or billing information. Cyber Liability insurance helps to protect you from claims and supports your profitability in the event of a cyber breach or attack.
